Jae Sorn Waterfall and National Park

Jae Sorn Waterfall is another attractive recreational location in Lampang. The waterfall cascades down 7 tiers from the top of the mountain. The first tier, near the source of thewaterfall, is the most beautiful. This is where the river spawns a magnitude of creeks. Jaesorn National Park is Lampang's best kept natural reserve. ln the compound of the park, there are natural rock and hot springs which are heated, by volcanic forces deep within the earth, to temperatures ranging from 70-80 C. You can cook eggs within 15 minutes. These eggs will be different from regular tap water boiled eggs because only the yolk is well-done, but the white egg is like gelatin. At one point, cool water from Jae Sorn Waterfall flows into Hot Spring, making a warm water pool. The park facilitates standard hot spring bathing at 20 baht per person. Kew Lom Dam

The dam is situated about 40 kms. From town. Lt is not onty a water reservation facility for agricultural needs, it is also a beautiful place for relaxation. While travelling on a raft or raft or boat, visitors can experience nature and observe fishermen living along the reservoir. Raft and boat renting service is available at 223-772.

Thai Elephant Conservation Center

The name was changed from Elephant Training School when it first moved from Ban Pangla, Ngao to the Present location in Amphoe Hang Chat on Lampang-Chaing Mai Highway, between the 28th To 29th Kilometer. The centre is renowned for young elephant training shows and demonstrations of elephants' forestry skills and endurance. There are two shows daily at 10:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. and an additional show on weekends and holidays at 13:30 p.m. Admission is 80 baht for each individual visitor. Travelling: private car or public bus service. The bus service from Lampang or Chaing Mai is available at the bus terminal every 30 minuter.

Nong Khrathing Park

This recreational facility is located approximately 3 kms. outside of Lampang. While visiting there you can enjoy the delicious food and peaceful scenery of the lake bound restaurant.

Wat Phrakaeo Dontao

This monastery is located opposite of Lampang town crossing the Rachada Phisek Bridge, some 2 kms. In Tambon Wiang Nua, Amphoe Muang. lt is an important statutory place because the Emerald Buddha had been housed here for 32 years. There is a 50-meter-high pagoda, housing some hair of Lord Buddha, decorated the top part with Jango gold sheet. At the base of the pagoda there are niches housing the 7 daily Buddha images where in front of the pagoda situated a Burmese style Vihara housing very beautiful Burmese style Buddha images.

Wat Phra Thart Lampang Luang

This ancient monastery is one of the most important historical places in Lampang. lt is the site where Chao Phraya Suwalue Chai Songkhram (Governor Thip Chang) freed Lampang from Burma. He later became the ancestor of seven genera-tions: Na Lampang, Na Lampoon, Na Chaing Mai, and Na Nan. This temple houses priceless antiques and ancient arts. They include Buddha's relics and double-deck Naga stairs. lt also enshrines Phra Kaew Don Tao, the Buddah images that is held with historical reverence.

Wat Phra Thart Chom Ping

This temple is located at Ban Chom ping, approximately 20 kms. From Koh Kha district. The Magnificent golden pagoda can be seen from afar. lnside there is old man waiting to close the close the chapel's door, allowing visitors to see the amazing reflection of the pagoda on the floor.

Wat Mon-Pu-Yak

Wat Mon-Pu-Yak is located on a hill near the Wang river in the northwest. avea of Lampang.(Morn-jom-seon road)Pha-baht Muang Lampang.The local size of the area is about 15 rai and can be seen on the tegistered land copy number 196.Wat Mon-Pu-yark is surrounded by a brick-wall.(westevn art of vihara) and hasapagoda at the end of the vihara.Next to rthe vevy big temple is also a church built in Portuguese Archireeture style.Both the temple and the church are located in the middle of the area. Wat Mon Phraya Chae

lt is one of the most important monasteries of Lampang, situated on top of a hill overlooking town. From here, visitors can enjoy fresh air and the view of Lampang. A Naga staircase leading up to Chedi containing relics of the Lord Buddha,is similar to Doi Suthep's. An annual ceremony is held on the ninth month for people to worship theLord Buddha's relics.

Wat Chedee Sao

This Wat has an exquisite collection of antiques. The uniqueness of temple is based on its Chedi Sao, which means twenty pagodas, and San Sae Thong Kham, a hallow, bolted Golden Buddha image.

Wat Phra Thart Sadej

Off to the left on the sixteenth kilometers on Lampang-Chaing Mai road, about 1 kilometre is a spacious Wat Phra Thart Sadej. This wat, with exquisitely decorated doors, houses the principal Buddha image. The pose of the principle Buddha image in one of mediation among the quarrelling relatives which influenced Sukhothai architecture. This temple has a Lanna style pagoda containing Buddha,s relics.

Wat Ak kho Chai Kiri

Traveling along the Lampang-Jae Hom road, about 58 kms. on the left, you will see this temple set on the hilltop. lnside the temple you can see the amazing shadow of the pagoda generated by daylight even windows and doors are closed.

Wat Pong Yang kok (Pong Yang kok Temple)

Wat Pong Yang kok is located on the Hangchat - kohkha road in Hangchat District. lt is an important tmple to the history of Lampang. lt is a temple where Nan Thip Chang, the ancestor of the seven kings of the north, lived his life as a monk. At the temple, you will find a historical architecture, the Jammadhevi shrine, that was built by Chawmae Jammadhevi, The Queen of Lampang, when she passed by Lampang hundred of years ago. The shrine was built with a traditional Lanna architecture, in which is very rare to find these days. The distinctive Lanna arts can be found on pillars and walls that were first painted with red colored paint, the covered with gold leaves. This style is considered to be one of the most beautiful method in Ancient Thai Architecture. ln addition, there is a historical chair that is reserved at the Wat Pong Yang kok. lt is the chair that Nan Tip Chang sat and spread the words of Buddha to the khelang people. Mae Moa Power Plant

Lignite was found at Amphoe Mae Moa in 1955. Since Thailand has faced the lack of oil to support the country and the increasing oil prices, lignite was the cheapest natural resource used to produce electricity. Phathai Cave

The entrance to Pha Thai Cave is about 62 kms. from Lampang On Lampang-Chiang Mai road. Off the main road to the left, approximately 700 metres, there's a large parking lot. Next to the iot are 283 steps to the ground level of Pha Thai Cave. lt enshrines a principal Buddha image and magnificent stalactites and stalagmites deposits. Donations can be made to pay for electricity, which is provided by residential monks.

Tham phra Sabay (Phra Sabay Cave)

Tham phra Sabay is located in Maetha District, which is about 30 Kilometers away form Downtown Lampang. There are road signs that will easily lead you to the cave. And you can reach the cave by any mode of transportation. Once arrived, you will notice woods that give shades and make up a majestic mountain. The meaning of Tham Phra Sabay is a cave of comfortable monks, and the name suits the cave well. The guiet environment at the cave allows anyone, especially Bhuddhist monks, to come to meditate and read the teaching of the Buddha (Tripitaka). lt is an ideal place for everyone to visit.

Ceramic lndustrial Center

lt is a center for 200 Nortnern cermic factories. lt is situated on Lampang-Bangkok road before reaching the entrance of Koh Kha district. Lampang is famous for exporiting products made from Kaolin. This superior white clay is used to make pottery items such as souvenirs, dinnerware, sanitary-ware (bathroom fixture), etc.

Mae Tam Handicraft Center

Mae Tam Handicraft Center is located in Serm Ngam Distrct, about 30 kilometers away from Downtown Lampang. lt is one of the Queen's project that aims to improve the living quality of local people. The center was built in 1984 with three major practices within the project :prevent the area from deforestation and poaching, and prevent forest fire. To Educated local people about new ways to Agricuture. The project brings in new methods and technologies in Agricuture. The project brings in new methods and technologies in Agricalture to the area. The stafts show the locals the how-to-do- it at the center. Then, they are handed out samples of crops animals, and materials needed to start on their own. With this program, the locals are updated with new methods and technologies ; therefore, with more efficiency, the project helps improve their income. To be the center of handicrafts in the area. The project promotes handicraft activities as pottery, ceramics, basket and cloth wearing, wood carving, and silk products. Once the locals learn how to do these Activitics, they will go home and do it themselves. Once finished, the locals can bring the finished goods to the center, in which they can be sold for profits. This Pratice also helps improve the income level to the locals.

Kad Kong Ta
